SANDING & POLISHING

1. Sanding
-
Preparation:
All floor nails shall be punched below the timber surface, and nail holes shall be filled with an appropriate colour-matched putty to achieve a smooth and uniform finish.
-
Sanding:
Sanding shall typically be carried out in three stages, commencing with coarse-grit sandpaper and progressing through to fine-grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth finish.
2. Polishing
-
Preparation:
Wooden floors shall be cleaned and buffed with an appropriate grit mesh screen after the fine sanding process to ensure proper adhesion of the polishing materials to the floor surface.
-
Polishing:
Polishing is generally carried out in three coats and requires approximately 3 to 4 days to complete. Additional time may be required if temperature or environmental conditions are unsuitable. After the first and second coats, the floor shall be cleaned and buffed to ensure that the final polishing coat adheres properly to the floor surface.
-
Curing guideline:
The polished surface shall require a minimum of 48 hours to dry before it can be stepped on, and only soft-soled footwear (socks) is permitted during this period. Full curing of the floor may take 10 to 14 days, after which furniture can be arranged on the surface.
